When my grandmother died people would tell me how sorry they were and what a great lady she was. I would nod and remain quiet, saying thank you when necessary. The truth is I was mad at them because they never knew my grandmother, and they didn't have to lose her like I did. They were the lucky ones, and I hated them for it. I still do.
